Prof. Anu Singh Lather, an eminent academician, is the 2nd Vice Chancellor of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar University Delhi. Prior to joining Dr. B. R. Ambedkar University Delhi, Prof. Lather was holding the charge of Pro Vice Chancellor, Delhi Technological University. Prof. Lather assumed charge as Vice Chancellor on 22nd February 2019. Prof. Lather is currently the member of EC of NAAC-the Apex Statutory body for Assessment & Accreditation in India. She is also the member of standing committee of NAAC for “Approvals & Appeals”. Prof. Lather’s diversified academic experience and doctrinal knowledge has contributed immensely in the field of learning and education and her administrative acumen has helped Dr. B. R. Ambedkar University to reach new heights in the educational arena of the city as well as nation.
Prof. Lather has a Post graduate in Psychology and MBA in Human Resource Management. She received her PhD in Human Resource Management & Psychology from Punjab University, Chandigarh. Prof. Lather’s field of specialization is Strategic Human Resource Management, Organizational Behaviour, and Organizational Development and Change Management, Business Communication and Technology & Innovation Management.
In recognition to her valuable and worthy research contributions, she has been conferred with the Best Researcher Award consecutively for 3 years i.e. 2010, 2011 & 2012 by GGS Indraprastha University. Faculty of Economics and Management, Slovak University of Agriculture, Slovak Republic awarded Gold Medal to her for Excellence in Academic & Research Activities. She received International Achievers’ Award for Education Excellence by Indian Achievers Forum in collaboration with Singapore Chambers of Commerce and Thai Chambers of Commerce at the International Summit at Singapore in 2011. Received Best Paper Award in the 8th International Annual American Business Research Conference held in New York, USA in 2016, Top Ranker’s Management Consultant Excellence Award in Research in Management in Jan, 2015, Szent Istvan Universtiy, Godollo, Budapest (Hungary) for excellent academic activities in 2010 and a medal from Faculty of Applied Economics & Rural Development, University of Debrecen, Hungary for Academic Excellence.
The knowledge of psychology equipped with understanding of Human Resource management has sharpened her leadership skills and administrative competence. This was put in use and in turn enhanced by experience in various leading academic institutions of the country. She began her academic career from Guru Jambheshwar University, Hissar. A trail blazer and a believer in creating new paths, she founded Department of Applied Psychology at Guru Jambheshwar University. Her progressive, methodical and well-articulated teachings techniques have not only revolutionized the education system but also benefitted the students with insightful, informative and well-structured information. Prof. Lather is highly regarded as the one of the most Committed Conscientious & Capable Academician.
In Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, Prof. Lather held many administrative responsibilities like Dean, University School of Management Studies (2008-2014), Director, International Affairs (2009-2017). These divisions achieved new heights during the tenure of Prof. Lather. She was instrumental in developing the first Organizational Development and Change Management (OD & CM) Cell at GGS Indraprastha University and at East Delhi Campus of Delhi Technological University. The Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIP) vested her with the responsibility of Chairperson of University Complaints Committee from 2008-2014, Prevention of Sexual Harassment at workplace, and Director, Indraprastha Colloquium from 2006-2011.
Prof. Lather contributed in the administration by developing SOP’s for all levels of administration which finally culminated into ISO 9001.2015 certification for the University. She also established the office of International Affairs, International Alumni Networking, and Centre for Human Resource Development, Equal Opportunity Cell, Office of Outreach and Extension activities etc. The office of International Affairs could attract foreign students from almost 45 countries and it laid the foundation for Internationalization of the University in true sense as many Academic Partnerships were established leading to academic exchanges.
Prof. Anu Singh Lather was the Pro Vice-Chancellor of Delhi Technological University from 2017- 2019 where she played a pivotal role in establishing the East Delhi Campus of DTU with focus on Management and Entrepreneurship programme and created a unique Business School named as University School of Management & Entrepreneurship.
Prof. Lather’s extensive knowledge and diversified experience in the education field has earned her positions on several renowned education Councils/Associations/Universities/Institutions of the country. Prof. Lather is an honorable member of Academic Council at Pondicherry University, member of Executive Committee, NAAC, member of State Advisory Committee (SAC), Member of General Body Meeting at Delhi Schools of Specialized Excellence, member of Board of Management at Graphic Era University Dehradun, Member of Board of Director and Planning at Delhi Technological University (DTU), Board of Management Member (Representative of the UGC) at Indira Gandhi Delhi Technical University for Women (IGDTUW). She also held the position of Senator at the illustrious IIT Roorkee.
Prof. Lather has been a distinguished Member of Academic Council (2012-13) YMCA University Faridabad, Member, Academic Planning Board (2014-16), Kurukshetra University. Prof. Lather has been academically associated with various prestigious academic institutions such as IIT (Delhi), IIM (Ahmedabad), IIM (Bangalore), School of Planning and Architecture, Defence Institute of Psychological Research (DIPR), DRDO, All India Management Association (AIMA), Delhi Management Association (DMA-Member Managing Committee), FICCI – HRD for academics, research, consultancy & training assignments.
Prof. Lather is also associated with UGC, AICTE, DEC, National Assessment and accreditation Council (NAAC), National Board of Accreditation (NBA), Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) in various capacities. She is also the member of Governing Body of National Rural Livelihoods Promotion Society (NRLPS), Ministry of Rural Development, Govt. of India.
Prof. Lather has always been passionate for teaching and research domains. Prof. Lather has a remarkable track record in publishing qualitative research papers in the areas of Strategic Human Resources Management Organizational Behaviour (OB), Chain Management, Business Communication, Management of Technology and Innovation& Change and has supervised 13 Ph.Ds scholars.
